Swimming & Diving Wins First Meet in Falcon History; Splits Tri-Meet

Danbury, Conn. - The Albertus Magnus College women's swimming & diving team earned its first program win over Rhode Island College as the Falcons split in a tri-meet at Western Connecticut State University Friday evening inside The William O'Neill Athletic & Convocation Center. The Falcons suffered a 127-77 loss to the Colonials, but bounced back to earn the huge win over the Anchormen.

EVENT RESULTS

200 Medley Relay 

  • The medley consisting of Crisbeth Castañeda (Guatemala City, Guatemala), Luci Gomez Gutierrez (Hermosillo, M.X.), Megan Anderson日本一本道a不卡免费 (Levittown, N.Y.), and Elli Sherry (Mechanicsville, V.A.) claimed second place with a time of 2:12.08.

200 Yard Freestyle

  • 日本一本道a不卡免费Castañeda finished in fifth following a time of 2:48.92.

50 Yard Backstroke

  • Sophomore Joselyn Streeto (New Haven, Conn.) finished in third behind an overall time of 50.78 seconds.

50 Yard Breaststroke

  • Anderson recorded a fourth-place finish with a time of 38.08 seconds.
  • Freshman Arle Cruceta (Salcedo, Dominican Republic) followed shortly behind with a final time of 58.96 to place fifth.

200 Yard Butterfly

  • Gomez Gutierrez recorded her first collegiate win as the rookie placed first with a final time of 2:37.39.

50 Yard Freestyle

  • Freshman Kiara Pabon (Hamden, Conn.) finished fifth with a time of 42.00 seconds.
  • Four seconds later, Cruceta finished behind Pabon with a final time of 47.15 seconds.

100 Yard  Freestyle

  • Anderson finished in second place with a time of 1:08.86.

200 Breaststroke

  • Following with a time of 4:21:12, Cruceta posted a fourth-place finish.

500 Freestyle

  • 日本一本道a不卡免费Gomez Gutierrez recorded her second first-place finish with a time of 6:07.76.

50 Butterfly

  • 日本一本道a不卡免费Sherry posted a third-place finish in the event following a final time of 33.00 seconds. 

200 Individual Medley

  • Anderson took home fourth-place with a final time of 3:00.77.

1650 (mile) Freestyle

  • Castañeda claimed fourth with a time of 25:56.74.
  • Pabon finished shortly behind with a final time of 33:35.20.
  • Five seconds later, Cruceta touched the wall with a time of 38:04.94.

NOTEWORTHY

  • Newcomers Sherry and Gomez Gutierrez join fellow teammate Anderson in qualifying for Regionals and will be competing at the NEISDA Championships in February. 

UP NEXT 
The women's swimming and diving team returns to action on Friday, Jan. 31 as the Falcons compete in the 2020 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship. The meet is an all day event and will take place at the Wellesley Sports Center in Wellesley, Mass.
